V Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics

Ouro Preto, 31 July - 04 August 2007

Over the last 18 years, several meetings on simulational physics have been held in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The first, in 1989, was a satellite conference of STATPHYS 17. In 2000, the Ising Centennial was celebrated in Belo Horizonte, in a conference including many talks on simulations in statistical physics.

In 2007 we will celebrate ten years of the Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics. This series began in 1997, in Belo Horizonte; the second was held two years later. In 2003, and 2005, the third and fourth meetings were held in the historic city of Ouro Preto. These meetings have been very successful, drawing together established researchers and students new to the area, from Brazil and the rest of the world. They marked a pleasant time for all of the participants, in the mountains of Minas Gerais.

In 2007, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of these encounters, the V Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics will be held in Ouro Preto, from 31 July to 4 August. We are confident that the participants will have a great time discussing simulation methods in physics, in our winter atmosphere of the “alterosas”, and that this Meeting will attain the same high standards as the previous ones.
